Our first Alumni Spotlight is on Commander Michael Husband. A native of Odessa, Texas, he was initiated as Sigma Nu Zeta 272 and graduated from Texas Tech University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. He currently lives in Austin, Texas with his wife Victoria and two sons, Xander and Charlie.
After graduating from Texas Tech, he joined the US Navy and served on active duty and the reserves as a Surface Warfare Officer commanding numerous units, most recently assigned as CO of Joint Staff North, supporting the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the Pentagon. His awards include the Bronze Star, multiple Meritorious Service Medals, multiple Navy Commendation Medals, the Joint Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, numerous Navy Achievement Medals, the Combat Action Ribbon, Battle E, and various theatre and unit level awards.
In his civilian career he’s started several companies in Austin, TX and is CEO of Source to Force Innovation (SFi) (a professional services contractor that provides to the Gov’t and Finacial sectors) and Desert Pirate Productions, LLC (a new entertainment production company currently working with Anonymous Content and several large investors). Mike also serves as President of the Sigma Nu Zeta Housing Corporation and Chairman of the Ring Road Foundation that supports Afghan Interpreters that have worked with the Dept. of Defense, Dept. of State, and other US Gov’t organizations.
Mike believes that giving back to and mentoring the undergraduate members can and does play a pivotal role in how successful they will be after graduation. He also encourages other alumni to join the Texas Tech Lambda Chi Alpha Alumni Association, Chapter Advisory Board, and donate to the Housing Corp Sustainment campaign.
